ON THE FLY-MADRID OCTOBER 1991

Back in 1991 there was funding for students wanting work experience in Europe. I took a budget flight to Madrid in the hope of securing a placement in one of the studios there.

I had passed by Madrid previously, but never stopped. I was left wondering what might lie inside the metropolis that rose like an apparition on the central plateau. This trip offered a first glimpse of the city that, for a brief period, would become my home.
